KS2 Results 2017

National results published on 5th July 2017 for the new primary school testing system in Maths and English show that the majority of children have achieved the new higher standard expected of them.

The year's results are the second to be released following the introduction of a far more rigorous curriculum in 2014 that raises the bar in terms of expectations of young people's mastery of literacy and numeracy, bringing our primary school curriculum in line with the best in the world.

The results are not comparable to test results from previous years, which were under an entirely different system of assessment.

Results show:

  • 61% of pupils met the new expected standard in reading, writing and mathematics - Meadowdale 84.3% - LA 60.5%.
  • 71% of pupils met the new expected standard in reading - Meadowdale 91% - LA 72%
  • 75% of pupils met the new expected standard in mathematics - Meadowdale 90% - LA 72%
  • 77% of pupils met the new expected standard in grammar, punctuation and spelling - Meadowdale 75% - LA 73%
Key stage 2 results no longer use the previous system of levels - instead, test results are converted into 'scaled scores' - with a score of 100 being the expected standard. Any score below this means the pupil is working 'towards the expected standard.' Previously the expected standard was a level 4.

This year the average pupil is performing about the 'expected standard.'
  • The average scaled score in reading is 104
  • The average scaled score in mathematics is 104
  • The average scaled score in grammar, punctuation and spelling is 106
