If your child needs medication at some point through the day that's absolutely fine so long as it's prescription medication. We are able to administer the medicine if necessary however certain parameters must be met first.
If medicine has to be administered by ourselves we ask that parents/guardians;
- Supply the exact dose in a syringe, or;
- Give us the correct number of tablets/capsules which the pupil can self administer, or;
- Make the arrangements to come to the academy to administer the necessary dosage.
For medication to be administered by the academy we ask that parents/guardians fill in a medication care plan which is attached at the bottom of this page.
Non-prescription medication cannot be administered in the academy so we ask that these are not brought in. We do ask that if the medication needs to be administered three times a day that parents/guardians give the medication before school, after school and at bedtime.
Where neccesary prescribed medications will be taken offsite in line with of administration protocol on trips and visits.
Inhalers can be kept at the office, however we recommend that students retrieve these before participating in physical activities. Where agreed in the care plan inhalers will be taken off site on any extracurricular visits.
It is the parents/guardians responsibility to ensure that any medication (including inhalers and epipens) are brought into the academy and have not reached their expiry date.
